54 ਗਣਤ ਗਣਾਵਣਿ ਆਈਆ ਸੂਹਾ ਵੇਸੁ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ॥ Gaṇaṫ gaṇaavaṇ aa▫ee▫aa soohaa vés vikaar. But when the time comes to settle their accounts, their red robes are corrupt. ਪਾਖੰਡਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਖੋਟਾ ਪਾਜੁ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥੧॥ Pakʰand parém na paa▫ee▫æ kʰotaa paaj kʰu▫aar. ||1|| His Love is not obtained through hypocrisy. Her false coverings bring only ruin. ||1|| ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਇਉ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੈ ਨਾਰਿ ॥ Har jee▫o i▫o pir raavæ naar. In this way, the Dear Husband Lord ravishes and enjoys His bride. ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਨਿ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਅਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੈਹਿ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ Ṫuḋʰ bʰaavan sohaagaṇee apṇee kirpaa læhi savaar. ||1|| rahaa▫o. The happy soul-bride is pleasing to You, Lord; by Your Grace, You adorn her. ||1||Pause|| ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸੀਗਾਰੀਆ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਕੈ ਪਾਸਿ ॥ Gur sabḋee seegaaree▫aa ṫan man pir kæ paas. She is decorated with the Word of the Guru’s Shabad; her mind and body belong to her Husband Lord. ਦੁਇ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਖੜੀ ਤਕੈ ਸਚੁ ਕਹੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥ Ḋu▫é kar joṛ kʰaṛee ṫakæ sach kahæ arḋaas. With her palms pressed together, she stands, waiting on Him, and offers her True prayers to Him. ਲਾਲਿ ਰਤੀ ਸਚ ਭੈ ਵਸੀ ਭਾਇ ਰਤੀ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਸਿ ॥੨॥ Laal raṫee sach bʰæ vasee bʰaa▫é raṫee rang raas. ||2|| Dyed in the deep crimson of the Love of her Darling Lord, she dwells in the Fear of the True One. Imbued with His Love, she is dyed in the color of His Love. ||2|| ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਕੀ ਚੇਰੀ ਕਾਂਢੀਐ ਲਾਲੀ ਮਾਨੈ ਨਾਉ ॥ Pari▫a kee chéree kaaⁿdʰee▫æ laalee maanæ naa▫o. She is said to be the hand-maiden of her Beloved Lord; His sweetheart surrenders to His Name. ਸਾਚੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਤੁਟਈ ਸਾਚੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਉ ॥ Saachee pareeṫ na ṫut▫ee saaché mél milaa▫o. True Love is never broken; she is united in Union with the True One. ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਵੇਧਿਆ ਹਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥੩॥ Sabaḋ raṫee man véḋʰi▫aa ha▫o saḋ balihaaræ jaa▫o. ||3|| Attuned to the Word of the Shabad, her mind is pierced through. I am forever a sacrifice to Him. ||3|| ਸਾ ਧਨ ਰੰਡ ਨ ਬੈਸਈ ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ Saa ḋʰan rand na bæs▫ee jé saṫgur maahi samaa▫é. That bride, who is absorbed into the True Guru, shall never become a widow. ਪਿਰੁ ਰੀਸਾਲੂ ਨਉਤਨੋ ਸਾਚਉ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ Pir reesaaloo na▫oṫano saacha▫o maræ na jaa▫é. Her Husband Lord is Beautiful; His Body is forever fresh and new. The True One does not die, and shall not go. ਨਿਤ ਰਵੈ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਸਾਚੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੪॥ Niṫ ravæ sohaagaṇee saachee naḋar rajaa▫é. ||4|| He continually enjoys His happy soul-bride; He casts His Gracious Glance of Truth upon her, and she abides in His Will. ||4|| ਸਾਚੁ ਧੜੀ ਧਨ ਮਾਡੀਐ ਕਾਪੜੁ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥ Saach ḋʰaṛee ḋʰan maadee▫æ kaapaṛ parém seegaar. The bride braids her hair with Truth; her clothes are decorated with His Love. ਚੰਦਨੁ ਚੀਤਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਦਸਵਾ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥ Chanḋan cheeṫ vasaa▫i▫aa manḋar ḋasvaa ḋu▫aar. Like the essence of sandalwood, He permeates her consciousness, and the Temple of the Tenth Gate is opened. ਦੀਪਕੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਿਗਾਸਿਆ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਰ ਹਾਰੁ ॥੫॥ Ḋeepak sabaḋ vigaasi▫aa raam naam ur haar. ||5|| The lamp of the Shabad is lit, and the Name of the Lord is her necklace. ||5|| ਨਾਰੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਮਣੀ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ Naaree anḋar sohṇee masṫak maṇee pi▫aar. She is the most beautiful among women; upon her forehead she wears the Jewel of the Lord’s Love. ਸੋਭਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੀ ਸਾਚੈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਿ ਅਪਾਰ ॥ Sobʰaa suraṫ suhaavaṇee saachæ parém apaar. Her glory and her wisdom are magnificent; her love for the Infinite Lord is True. ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੬॥ Bin pir purakʰ na jaaṇ▫ee saaché gur kæ héṫ pi▫aar. ||6|| Other than her Beloved Lord, she knows no man. She enshrines love for the True Guru. ||6|| ਨਿਸਿ ਅੰਧਿਆਰੀ ਸੁਤੀਏ ਕਿਉ ਪਿਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥ Nis anḋʰi▫aaree suṫee▫é ki▫o pir bin ræṇ vihaa▫é. Asleep in the darkness of the night, how shall she pass her life-night without her Husband? ਅੰਕੁ ਜਲਉ ਤਨੁ ਜਾਲੀਅਉ ਮਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਜਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਇ ॥ Ank jala▫o ṫan jaalee▫a▫o man ḋʰan jal bal jaa▫é. Her limbs shall burn, her body shall burn, and her mind and wealth shall burn as well. ਜਾ ਧਨ ਕੰਤਿ ਨ ਰਾਵੀਆ ਤਾ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਜਾਇ ॥੭॥ Jaa ḋʰan kanṫ na raavee▫aa ṫaa birṫʰaa joban jaa▫é. ||7|| When the Husband does not enjoy His bride, then her youth passes away in vain. ||7|| ਸੇਜੈ ਕੰਤ ਮਹੇਲੜੀ ਸੂਤੀ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥ Séjæ kanṫ mahélṛee sooṫee boojʰ na paa▫é. The Husband is on the Bed, but the bride is asleep, and so she does not come to know Him. ਹਉ ਸੁਤੀ ਪਿਰੁ ਜਾਗਣਾ ਕਿਸ ਕਉ ਪੂਛਉ ਜਾਇ ॥ Ha▫o suṫee pir jaagṇaa kis ka▫o poochʰa▫o jaa▫é. While I am asleep, my Husband Lord is awake. Where can I go for advice? ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲੀ ਭੈ ਵਸੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਸਖਾਇ ॥੮॥੨॥ Saṫgur mélee bʰæ vasee Naanak parém sakʰaa▫é. ||8||2|| The True Guru has led me to meet Him, and now I dwell in the Fear of God. O Nanak! His Love is always with me. ||8||2|| ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ Sireeraag mėhlaa 1. Siree Raag, First Mehl: ਆਪੇ ਗੁਣ ਆਪੇ ਕਥੈ ਆਪੇ ਸੁਣਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ Aapé guṇ aapé kaṫʰæ aapé suṇ veechaar. O Lord, You are Your Own Glorious Praise. You Yourself speak it; You Yourself hear it and contemplate it. ਆਪੇ ਰਤਨੁ ਪਰਖਿ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਮੋਲੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥ Aapé raṫan parakʰ ṫooⁿ aapé mol apaar. You Yourself are the Jewel, and You are the Appraiser. You Yourself are of Infinite Value. ਸਾਚਉ ਮਾਨੁ ਮਹਤੁ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ Saacha▫o maan mahaṫ ṫooⁿ aapé ḋévaṇhaar. ||1|| O True Lord, You are Honor and Glory; You Yourself are the Giver. ||1|| ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥ Har jee▫o ṫooⁿ karṫaa karṫaar. O Dear Lord, You are the Creator and the Cause. ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖੁ ਤੂੰ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਆਚਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ Ji▫o bʰaavæ ṫi▫o raakʰ ṫooⁿ har naam milæ aachaar. ||1|| rahaa▫o. If it is Your Will, please save and protect me; please bless me with the lifestyle of the Lord’s Name. ||1||Pause|| ਆਪੇ ਹੀਰਾ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਆਪੇ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਜੀਠ ॥ Aapé heeraa nirmalaa aapé rang majeetʰ. You Yourself are the flawless diamond; You Yourself are the deep crimson color. ਆਪੇ ਮੋਤੀ ਊਜਲੋ ਆਪੇ ਭਗਤ ਬਸੀਠੁ ॥ Aapé moṫee oojlo aapé bʰagaṫ baseetʰ. You Yourself are the perfect pearl; You Yourself are the devotee and the priest. ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਲਾਹਣਾ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਡੀਠੁ ਅਡੀਠੁ ॥੨॥ Gur kæ sabaḋ salaahṇaa gʰat gʰat deetʰ adeetʰ. ||2|| Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, You are praised. In each and every heart, the Unseen is seen. ||2|| ਆਪੇ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਬੋਹਿਥਾ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਰੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥ Aapé saagar bohiṫʰaa aapé paar apaar. You Yourself are the ocean and the boat. You Yourself are this shore, and the one beyond. ਸਾਚੀ ਵਾਟ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ਤੂੰ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਘਾਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥ Saachee vaat sujaaṇ ṫooⁿ sabaḋ lagʰaavaṇhaar. O All-knowing Lord, You are the True Way. The Shabad is the Navigator to ferry us across. ਨਿਡਰਿਆ ਡਰੁ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਬਾਝੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ॥੩॥ Nidri▫aa dar jaaṇee▫æ baajʰ guroo gubaar. ||3|| One who does not fear God shall live in fear; without the Guru, there is only pitch darkness. ||3|| ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਦੇਖੀਐ ਹੋਰੁ ਕੇਤੀ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥ Asṫʰir karṫaa ḋékʰee▫æ hor kéṫee aavæ jaa▫é. The Creator alone is seen to be Eternal; all others come and go. ਆਪੇ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਏਕੁ ਤੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਬੰਧੀ ਧੰਧੈ ਪਾਇ ॥ Aapé nirmal ék ṫooⁿ hor banḋʰee ḋʰanḋʰæ paa▫é. Only You, Lord, are Immaculate and Pure. All others are bound up in worldly pursuits. ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੪॥ Gur raakʰé sé ubré saaché si▫o liv laa▫é. ||4|| Those who are protected by the Guru are saved. They are lovingly attuned to the True Lord. ||4|| |
