sPlu jnmu srIru sBu hoAw ijqu rwm nwmu prgwisAw ] (444-1)
safal janam sareer sabh ho-aa jit raam naam pargaasi-aa.
Their lives and bodies become totally blessed and fruitful; the Lord's Name illumines them.

nwnk hir Bju sdw idnu rwqI gurmuiK inj Gir vwisAw ]6] (444-1)
naanak har bhaj sadaa din raatee gurmukh nij ghar vaasi-aa. ||6||
O Nanak, by continually vibrating upon the Lord, day and night, the Gurmukhs abide in the home of the inner self. ||6||

ijn srDw rwm nwim lgI iqn@ dUjY icqu n lwieAw rwm ] (444-2)
jin sarDhaa raam naam lagee tinH doojai chit na laa-i-aa raam.
Those who place their faith in the Lord's Name, do not attach their consciousness to another.

jy DrqI sB kMcnu kir dIjY ibnu nwvY Avru n BwieAw rwm ] (444-3)
jay Dhartee sabh kanchan kar deejai bin naavai avar na bhaa-i-aa raam.
Even if the entire earth were to be transformed into gold, and given to them, without the Naam, they love nothing else.

rwm nwmu min BwieAw prm suKu pwieAw AMiq clidAw nwil sKweI ] (444-3)
raam naam man bhaa-i-aa param sukh paa-i-aa ant chaldi-aa naal sakhaa-ee.
The Lord's Name is pleasing to their minds, and they obtain supreme peace; when they depart in the end, it shall go with them as their support.

rwm nwm Dnu pUMjI sMcI nw fUbY nw jweI ] (444-4)
raam naam Dhan poonjee sanchee naa doobai naa jaa-ee.
I have gathered the capital, the wealth of the Lord's Name; it does not sink, and does not depart.

rwm nwmu iesu jug mih qulhw jmkwlu nyiV n AwvY ] (444-4)
raam naam is jug meh tulhaa jamkaal nayrh na aavai.
The Lord's Name is the only true support in this age; the Messenger of Death does not draw near it.

nwnk gurmuiK rwmu pCwqw kir ikrpw Awip imlwvY ]7] (444-5)
naanak gurmukh raam pachhaataa kar kirpaa aap milaavai. ||7||
O Nanak, the Gurmukhs recognize the Lord; in His Mercy, He unites them with Himself. ||7||

rwmo rwm nwmu sqy siq gurmuiK jwixAw rwm ] (444-6)
raamo raam naam satay sat gurmukh jaani-aa raam.
True, True is the Name of the Lord, Raam, Raam; the Gurmukh knows the Lord.

syvko gur syvw lwgw ijin mnu qnu Arip cVwieAw rwm ] (444-6)
sayvko gur sayvaa laagaa jin man tan arap charhaa-i-aa raam.
The Lord's servant is the one who commits himself to the Guru's service, and dedicates his mind and body as an offering to Him.

mnu qnu AripAw bhuqu min sriDAw gur syvk Bwie imlwey ] (444-7)
man tan arpi-aa bahut man sarDhi-aa gur sayvak bhaa-ay milaa-ay.
He dedicates his mind and body to Him, placing great faith in Him; the Guru lovingly unites His servant with Himself.

dInw nwQu jIAw kw dwqw pUry gur qy pwey ] (444-7)
deenaa naath jee-aa kaa daataa pooray gur tay paa-ay.
The Master of the meek, the Giver of souls, is obtained through the Perfect Guru.

gurU isKu isKu gurU hY eyko gur aupdysu clwey ] (444-8)
guroo sikh sikh guroo hai ayko gur updays chalaa-ay.
The Guru's Sikh, and the Sikh's Guru, are one and the same; both spread the Guru's Teachings.

rwm nwm mMqu ihrdY dyvY nwnk imlxu suBwey ]8]2]9] (444-8)
raam naam mant hirdai dayvai naanak milan subhaa-ay. ||8||2||9||
The Mantra of the Lord's Name is enshrined within the heart, O Nanak, and we merge with the Lord so easily. ||8||2||9||

Aasaa, Chhant, Fourth Mehl, Second House:

hir hir krqw dUK ibnwsnu piqq pwvnu hir nwmu jIau ] (444-10)
har har kartaa dookh binaasan patit paavan har naam jee-o.
The Creator Lord, Har, Har, is the Destroyer of distress; the Name of the Lord is the Purifier of sinners.

hir syvw BweI prm giq pweI hir aUqmu hir hir kwmu jIau ] (444-11)
har sayvaa bhaa-ee param gat paa-ee har ootam har har kaam jee-o.
One who lovingly serves the Lord, obtains the supreme status. Service to the Lord, Har, Har, is more exalted than anything.

hir aUqmu kwmu jpIAY hir nwmu hir jpIAY AsiQru hovY ] (444-11)
har ootam kaam japee-ai har naam har japee-ai asthir hovai.
Chanting the Name of the Lord is the most exalted occupation; chanting the Name of the Lord, one becomes immortal.

jnm mrx dovY duK myty shjy hI suiK sovY ] (444-12)
janam maran dovai dukh maytay sehjay hee sukh sovai.
The pains of both birth and death are eradicated, and one comes to sleep in peaceful ease.

hir hir ikrpw Dwrhu Twkur hir jpIAY Awqm rwmu jIau ] (444-13)
har har kirpaa Dhaarahu thaakur har japee-ai aatam raam jee-o.
O Lord, O Lord and Master, shower Your Mercy upon me; within my mind, I chant the Name of the Lord.

The wealth of the Lord's Name is the most exalted in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga; chant the Lord's Name according to the Way of the True Guru.

gurmuiK hir pVIAY gurmuiK hir suxIAY hir jpq suxq duKu jwie jIau ] (444-15)
gurmukh har parhee-ai gurmukh har sunee-ai har japat sunat dukh jaa-ay jee-o.
As Gurmukh, read of the Lord; as Gurmukh, hear of the Lord. Chanting and listening to the Lord's Name, pain departs.

hir hir nwmu jipAw duKu ibnisAw hir nwmu prm suKu pwieAw ] (444-15)
har har naam japi-aa dukh binsi-aa har naam param sukh paa-i-aa.
Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, pains are removed. Through the Name of the Lord, supreme peace is obtained.

siqgur igAwnu bilAw Git cwnxu AigAwnu AMDyru gvwieAw ] (444-16)
satgur gi-aan bali-aa ghat chaanan agi-aan anDhayr gavaa-i-aa.
The spiritual wisdom of the True Guru illumines the heart; this Light dispels the darkness of spiritual ignorance.

hir hir nwmu iqnI AwrwiDAw ijn msqik Duir iliK pwie jIau ] (444-17)
har har naam tinee aaraaDhi-aa jin mastak Dhur likh paa-ay jee-o.
They alone meditate on the Lord's Name, Har, Har, upon whose foreheads such destiny is written.

hir nwmu pdwrQu kiljuig aUqmu hir jpIAY siqgur Bwie jIau ]2] (444-17)
har naam padaarath kalijug ootam har japee-ai satgur bhaa-ay jee-o. ||2||
The wealth of the Lord's Name is the most exalted in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga; chant the Lord's Name according to the Way of the True Guru. ||2||

hir hir min BwieAw prm suK pwieAw hir lwhw pdu inrbwxu jIau ] (444-18)
har har man bhaa-i-aa param sukh paa-i-aa har laahaa pad nirbaan jee-o.
One whose mind loves the Lord, Har, Har, obtains supreme peace. He reaps the profit of the Lord's Name, the state of Nirvaanaa.

hir pRIiq lgweI hir nwmu sKweI BRmu cUkw Awvxu jwxu jIau ] (444-19)
har pareet lagaa-ee har naam sakhaa-ee bharam chookaa aavan jaan jee-o.
He embraces love for the Lord, and the Lord's Name becomes his companion. His doubts, and his comings and goings are ended.
